Spargelzeit / Dinner Tonight: White Rice with Sweet & Sour Ginger Habanero Asparagus and a glass or two of Stadt Krems Grüner Veltliner
Delicious. So Delicious.
Throw some oil into a pan along with two whole habanero peppers. (Don’t worry, they’re just to impart flavor in the oil, so it won’t get very spicy. Don’t cut them, leave them whole). When it’s hot and the peppers start crackling throw in chopped asparagus and salt + freshly cracked pepper. Keep everything in the pan constantly moving, and the flame rather high. Make sure you wear an apron as the oil will splatter. Add minced ginger and half a clove of garlic, sliced finely.
When the asparagus is to your level of done-ness, throw in two or three tablespoons of Lee Kum Kee brand Sweet and Sour Sauce. Stir until everything is coated and then immediately turn off the heat.
Serve on top of rice and enjoy!
