I Smell a Sensation

The “two-headed girl”, as my sister calls them, are about to embark on their own reality show adventure on TLC in the States.  The media exposure is so extensive that they’ve even made the Austrian tabloids.  

The girls, or - as my sister would say, two-headed girl - live near my family’s home in Minnesota.  We’ve seen them - or, as my sister would say, her - driving around town.  They wield a suburban!

Can’t wait to watch it.  I hear that the show will even follow them on a trip to Europe - which I am already popping popcorn for because that is gonna be some EVENT television. 

Only the idiot Austrian tabloid press would make a blurb about a tv show that no one here will ever have access to.

Daytrip:  Randomly Retz

Took a random trip to Retz, north of Vienna in the Weinviertel (Wine Region) located along the Czech border. 

Retz’s symbol is this lovingly preserved windmill, the last remaining functioning old windmill left in Austria. 

“Woah, things just got REAL Austrian there for a second”:  Me, to Elaine, as she bought freshly squeezed juice from a stand along Mariahilferstrasse while I picked up a Bund of pussy willow twigs for our apartment, a long standing tradition in Austria (and throughout the German-speaking world). 

They’re still looking pretty Easter-tastic next to me as I write this. 

DEAD IN THE BATHTUB:  For those of you who were wondering how the Austrian tabloids reported the Whitney death-o-thon 2012, here’s the first newspaper after her death was reported.

And now if you’ll excuse me, I think I’m gonna pop a xanax and take a long bath with a Heineken…

I had it all to myself this morning.  It’s a steep climb up, though.  You really earn your gulasch/schnitzel/beer/white-wine spritzer/schnaps/apple strudel
