An hour and a half spent with my sister at Ina Garten’s favorite cafe in Paris:  The kind of memory I will cherish forever.

Le Smallest Elevator du Mond:  The elevator in our apartment building in Paris was comically small.  They had basically retrofitted the existing space in an old spiral staircase to fit a mini shaft.  We couldn’t even stand facing the door.

At one point I looked at Amanda and said, “You know what this is?  This is what it’s like to be toast”

Sorry for the lack of updates lately.  I was in Paris helping my sister get settled in her new digs, and since returning to Vienna Monday night I’ve been swamped with teaching, tutoring, and schoolwork. 

Paris was a big success last weekend!  Our apartment that we stayed at was lovely, with a dramatic view of the Sacre Coeur across the street.  I showed Manda how the metro works, some neighborhoods I thought she’d enjoy the most, and my favorite grocery stores.

Got Panda all settled in her new dorm, which is a cute corner room with three big windows overlooking the rose garden at the Fondation des Etats-Unis (and my weak chicken arms are still recovering from transporting suitcases on the elevator-less Paris metro).
